Ohio is one of 39 states which allow concealed weapons, although many hoops still need to be jumped through for law abiding citizens to obtain a permit. And if you ever need to use it, a system is in place which could swiftly bankrupt you.
Ohio considers it a "privilege" and not a right for law abiding citizens to protect themselves with a concealed weapon from criminals who obviously pay no attention to law, and hope you are unarmed.
Much work needs to be done to replace lawmakers with that "priviledge" attitude, and you can start with your state senators & representatives.
Recently passed by the Ohio Senate is a bill sponsored by Senator Steve Buehrer (http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/analysis.cfm?ID=127_SB_184&ACT=As%20Introduced&hf=analyses127/s0184-rs-127.htm) which presumes you are innocent of a crime when defending yourself inside your home or vehicle, even if the defense ends up killing the criminal. The bill status can be found here: Senate Bills - Status Report of Legislation - 127th General Assemly (http://lsc.state.oh.us/coderev/sen127.nsf/Senate+Bill+Number/0184?OpenDocument)
The bill is now passed in the Senate and in the Ohio House of Representatives as of 04/22/2008
