Fulton County Commissioner Meeting 05/01/2008

Kim Bowles and Curt Jones were present for the discussion. Ms. Bowles presented the Board with an update report for the Soil and Water Conservation District.

It was noted that they sold 12,895 trees at the annual spring tree seedling and seeds sale. They further distributed 1000 evergreen seedlings to first graders in Fulton County and conducted several Arbor Day programs at various area schools.

The District has received 5 AEPP applications to date and will present them all at once to the Commissioners for their approval in the very near future as they must be submitted by May 23rd.

The District has accepted 4 EQIP applicants that are currently under construction of either animal waste storage or fencing for livestock.

They are currently taking fish orders for pond owners through May 9th.

Mr. Jones emphasized that for every $1.00 that the county commissioners give to the SWCD, they are able to generate $8.34 back into the county.

Ms. Bowles expressed their desire to come in and give monthly updates to the Board to let them know what is going on, what is coming up and to see if there are any projects going on in the county that the District could assist with. The Board agreed to hold each monthly meeting on the Thursday session before the District’s regular Board meetings.
